Bonneville Ambursen Seismic Mitigation | Columbia River , Oregon

$2.6 million – Negotiated “Best Value”

USACE, Portland District | Wildish Standard Paving Co.

This project involved debris removal and filling the north wall of the original navigation lock that was built in the 1930’s with nearly 10,000 cubic yards of low-strength concrete to reduce the risk of failure under design seismic loading. The work took place in a confined space based on the 1903 Nils Ambursen monolith design requiring fall protection. Delivery of construction materials to the monoliths at this popular tourist attraction required use of a crane or concrete pumper.
